﹝原文直译﹞「因为在基督...惟独藉着爱运作的信心...」
﹝原文字义﹞「生发」作工，运行；「有功效」有力量，能够。
﹝文意注解﹞「受割礼」或「不受割礼」，并不能使一个基督徒得到所盼望的义，惟有在基督耶稣里藉着爱心运作的信心才能。
活泼的信心是藉着爱心运行作工的。
﹝灵意注解﹞割礼的属灵意义就是对付肉体(西二11)，也就是『死己』；真正死己的人，才有真实的爱心与信心。
﹝话中之光﹞(一)只有一件要紧的事，就是在基督里有信心。而真信心是用爱心来表达的(参雅二14~19)。
(二)有爱心便算遵守了律法(14节)。
(三)仅凭一些外面的规条、习惯来事奉神，是没有甚么价值的，惟有存着真实的信心和爱心，才有属灵的价值。
(四)律法只不过给人生活的规范与知识，但真信心却给人生命的能力，以遵行神的旨意。
